Venue Planning with the Iventis Planner

European Championships Munich 2022

Munich was proud to host the second European Championships in 2022, taking place from August 11th to 21st. The event welcomed approximately 4,700 athletes from 50 nations to compete in 9 Olympic sports across the Bavarian capital. The combined scale and prestige of the event required an innovative, collaborative planning solution to ensure the many moving parts were aligned.

Challenges

Organising a multi-sport event of this scale presents a series of complex challenges, and the European Championships Munich 2022 required a planning solution that could address issues around three key areas.

Integration

Organisers needed to be able to coordinate across various functional areas and multi-agency stakeholders, while managing plans in a range of formats.

Efficiency

To minimise disruption to the city – while still delivering an unforgettable experience for athletes and visitors – it was crucial that organisers made use of existing infrastructure where possible.

Communication

Continued visibility was required for key stakeholders to facilitate communication and expedite decision-making in a dynamic and geospatial context.

Solution

The features and capabilities of Iventis are designed to support complex, multi-sport events across a number of venues like the European Championships. Through our tool, organisers were able to access a wealth of options to streamline the planning process.

One platform

The Iventis Planner provided one platform for the entire event planning team, stakeholders, and suppliers to collaboratively plan every aspect of the event. It eliminated the need to manage plans in various disconnected formats and ensured that all planning efforts were synchronised.

Efficiency, done sustainably

The Planner also supported the event’s focus on sustainability by aiding in the efficient utilisation of existing infrastructure. It enabled the team to optimise resource allocation and minimise disruptions to the city while delivering a world-class experience to athletes and visitors.

Geospatial communication

Iventis’ geospatial capabilities meant that organisers could bring together maps, CAD plans and other relevant datasets into a single planning platform that provided full oversight to everyone who needed it. This heightened visibility ensured effective communication and swift decision-making in the dynamic event environment.

“We were happy to team up with such a renowned company as Iventis, which significantly supported our team in their planning and delivery. The system was used across several functional areas to develop plans and co-ordinate our efforts in the run up to the event.”
